Welcome to St Clare's, we are a centre of excellence for "Talk for Learning"!

School Information

The school day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3:15pm. Registration is from 8:55 to 9:10am.

Should parents require supervision for their child before school we run a Breakfast Club from 7.45am at a reasonable cost to parents.

Children are welcomed and supervised onto the playground from 8.45am. Staff come onto the playground to accompany the children into school.  If parents or guardians need to speak to the teacher please leave a message in the book at the main office or arrange to meet the teacher before they collect the children from the playground, so as not to delay the children's lessons.

Lunch time is from 12noon until 1pm.  Children are grouped into house families.  This means that children from Reception to Year 6 are mixed at lunchtimes to eat and play together. Older children teach younger children lunchtime manners and etiquette, how to play a range of games, and assist them with skills such as using a knife and fork and tidying away. All houses have a staggered playtime at lunchtime on the playground and in warmer weather, can play larger games such as football on the field. The house system gives all children the opportunity to go into lunch first, have closer supervision, a named supervisor that they can go to if they need first aid and increase their health and playskills by having more of the playground to play on. The first and the third house that come in for lunch on that day, come into a classroom only initially, to ensure they are all gathered together and then go out to play. Lunchtime supervisors are all trained to play games and in first aid. The year 5 children have also been trained as playcoaches and set up different games at lunchtimes.

The school day finishes at 3.15pm.  Children are dismissed by staff and accompanied to the playground for parents and carers to collect.  Please let the office know if the person collecting them is delayed or if it is someone different than normal collecting them.

On most Friday afternoons at 2:30pm parents and families are invited to attend Awards Assembly to celebrate the children's achievements over the week. Parents will receive a text in advance to notify them if their child will be receiving an award.

The school regularly holds whole school and class Masses. The dates for these are published through the school newsletter.

Each class leads a whole school Liturgy once a term. The children will invite their parents to attend these which take place on a Wednesday morning at 9:15am.

It is much healthier for the children to walk to school, it also improves the safety for pedestrians and it respects our neighbours.  We appreciate that some of our families live a distance away and need to come by car. There is free parking at the nearby Scotland's Car Park and a crossing patrol is available for safe crossing over Forest Road.
