Welcome to St Clare's, we are a centre of excellence for "Talk for Learning"!

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. It was allocated to children who were known to be eligible for free school meals, and children who had been looked after continuously for more than six months. Eligibility for Pupil Premium for 2012-13 was extended to pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever6 Free School Meals Measure), and a smaller amount for children of service personnel. Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit, and are accountable for how they use the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families and the other target groups.

Each year the school is allocated additional funding in its budget based on the number of children currently receiving free school meals as well as those who have received free school meals in the past 6 years, and those who have been previously looked after. This money is intended for use in raising standards for those children in disadvantaged situations.

At Saint Clare’s, we have introduced and developed a variety of intervention strategies to help support children who have qualified for the pupil Premium. We have studied the Sutton Trust Report, which is a Teaching and learning toolkit which provides guidance for teachers and schools on how to use their resources to impact the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.
