Visit from PC Radley
Miss Radley's brother, PC Radley, came to visit and talk to us about what it is like to be a police officer today. He showed us how he would arrest people, with Miss Radley being the volunteer! It was a lovely day and a great end to our Parliament and Law topic.
Steel pan performance 21/3/16
Year 4, along with Year 5, performed our steel pan music that we have been practising since January. The children enjoyed having an audience made up of school children, family and friends. Look at the video below where we are playing 'Jamaican Farewell'.
Houses of Parliament trip 7/03/16
As part of our topic of London and learning about the British parliament and law, we visited the Houses of Parliament in our capital city. We had a tour of the Houses of Lords and Commons and saw all the fantastic architecture of the building - lots of gold! There were so many statues of ex-prime ministers such as Winston Churchill and Maggie Thatcher. We even saw and touched David Cameron's pigeon hole! After our tour, we learnt how laws are made and passed back and forth between the two houses. Our local MP, Andrew Bridgen, gave us an extra talk and tour and we even got an exclusive trip to the terrace where the MPs have their lunch. A fantastic day out for Year 4!
Music - Steel pans
Year 4 have been learning to play the steel pans since September. We have learnt a lot of skills in our lessons and we can play the single tenor, mini tenor, single guitar and bass. We officially have our own steel band. Check out our videos! (Sorry for those that are the wrong way round; they are not editable!)
Our current topic is Romans! We started our topic with a visit from a Roman man called Gregorius Manlinus.
